Title: Eastern Red Cedar wood.....
Post by: SDB777 on July 09, 2011, 08:52:21 PM
Well, never let an opportunity get by ya! While going to Emerson's place doesn't take me directly by where I hunt, it's closer then standing in my front yard. As I know some of Emerson's habits(late sleeper), I can't let the cool morning air go by without smelling some exhaust fumes from the Stihl 064 and 36" ripping set-up!!!!

Yes, I had the camera with me, but no....I did get the camera out of the truck(grrrr). Sawdust and electronics probably isn't the best combination anyway, and mixing sweat with it would equal really bad things. But here is a few photo's of some two(2) inch thick slabs that will be cut between Sunday and Monday into bottle-stoppers, and pen blanks. And those blanks will be offered as soon as they are cut! The tree has been laying for over two years and the wood cut dry!!!!! That was really good news for me and any turners that are in the mood for a 'deal'!!!

Pictures!!!

This is what I ended up processing those previous photo'd slabs into.  There is approximately $400 worth of stuff in the photo's below....not a bad day(few hours to slab and clean up the saws, and then a few hours to process them down to blanks).

Hmmmm, boring stack of blanks.

Haven't cut these to lenght yet.

And I do want some of you to know, I listen.....some bigger chunks.

I'll need to get some measurements on the larger blanks and then photo everything.  And stuff will be posted in the classifieds soon!

Man could you have a field day with my Osage Slab pile!  I have about two trucks of stuff that would make great pen or bowl blanks but wont work for flooring!  Off to the burn pile it goes!

Know what you mean about some Osage....burned some today.  It was just the straight stuff that has blah, blah looks...  Crotch sells better for me, and I'm loaded with it!
