I have received some pictures from my colleague Willy Itomo in Bondo.
The new MD sawmill was up and running in August this year. Regrettable the rain season have destroyed the road and made it impossible to use.
He have to wait for the dry season that should kick in this month.
The log on the picture is quite large. The end stands are 7 feet high.

Wow, You should get some lumber out of those. ;D

Just right for an MD. That's what they were made to cut.
What kind of wood is it?

It looks like Iroko (Brown Mahogany)

Would have made for some really nice slabs if a chainsaw mill had been used with a 60"+ bar?
But a guess a whole bunch of 2x4 and 2x6 material is needed too....
Scott (who needs roads anyway) B

Nice set up. Frank. Looks like some of the logs we get in here, from time to time. ;D

Wanted to continue in this topic.
This is the first video from our sawmill in Bondo.
The MD saw is now stationary and the logs is being transported to the sawmill.

Nice looking set up. Why not shoot the sawdust the other direction, so you are not having to fight it, with the next log?

I knew you would see that
I saw the same thing and told my colleague Willy to change the direction. It is now done.
I'm happy for all the tips you and other MD owners can give me.
I know a couple of older defunct MDs in Congo. I'm planning to see if I can buy one and restore it later. But it must be worth the cost. The MD must be hydro driven.
