Title: New member from Ky
Post by: Landefeld Logging on March 19, 2015, 02:07:13 PM
Howdy,

I'm a 31 year old logger and part time farmer in E. Ky. Have had a sick obsession with sawmills for a few years now, and last year bought my first mill in partners with a buddy of mine. It was an old Frick and boy it didn't take long to realize how little we knew/know about a circle mill. Got it set up but have yet to saw with it yet. Going to purchase a bandmill this fall on my own to saw pallet grade and tie logs with when it is too wet to get in the woods. I still really want to get the circle mill up and operating and probably get another when I get the hang of it and set it up here on the farm. Heck, I want about five or six of em'! Just a little about me. Hope to learn a lot on this site and contribute what little I can.

Tom

Welcome to the forum Landefeld Logging.
Can't help with the circle mill.
I have a Timberking bandmill and am building my kiln when I get a chance.
Right now I seem to find most of my time involved in planting seedlings.  That time of year and all.

welcome to the club!

I have a complete circle mill operation that I purchased years ago and its still in pieces in two barns awaiting time to be put back together.

Thanks for the welcome! Sorry I didn't get back sooner. Been working on finishing up an 18th century log cabin build for a park in the city of Lexington. Been cruising through the site and have found alot of useful information.

I too would love to learn more about the old circle mills.
What are you lacking to saw right now?

As for your addiction, have you been prescribed to the independent sawmill and woodlot magazine yet?
