Hey all,
Guernsey County Fairgrounds, Cambridge Ohio - Oct. 6th, 7th & 8th
If anyone plan on coming, be sure to stop by and say "Howdy". I will be at the Paul Bunyan show all 3 days representing Kasco Sharptech.
Can easily be found under the Grandstands, in the Kasco WoodMaxx Booth. As in years past, I will be assisting sawyers with questions as to product line, application and even taking orders. No doubt I will be learning too and that's what it is all about... Sharing information. If by chance I've stepped out, I won't be far away.
Hope to see ya there !! ;D

Never anything like this close to me in Oklahoma....oh well.
-
In this area the only thing we have that is close is the Eugene Or products show.
-
Hope the show goes well for ya.

SUCCESSFUL ... Best way to describe how the show went.
It was great to be there, see existing customers, meet new people and represent Kasco WoodMaxx the best way I know how. Spoke to an untold number of people on various subjects involving blades, application, sawmill related issues, etc.
I did what I've always done and why I attend these shows - To help, educate and inform people with factual and candid information. Didn't matter if a person was looking to make a future purchase or just needed help with troubleshooting their machine. I did my best to assist everyone whom stopped by and give them the time and attention they needed/deserved.
The icing on the cake was this...
Baker WON the Sawmill Shootout !!! By a little over 3/4 of a log. ;D Unbeknownst to most everyone attending was the blade they were running, the Kasco SuperMAXX (7/40) w/ a twist.
Those blades were overnight shipped to me to have a "super tune" ;) and be dialed in for that particular application. Blades were in my shop at 4am Thurs. morning and hand delivered to the Baker crew Thurs. afternoon. ;D This was the first time this has been done by/for Baker and the Shootout.
Sure made me proud to play a small role their HUGE success this year. 8)
Hank, the sawyer, is the real man of the hour. He DID NOT use setworks. All sawing was done from the scale and he did the math in his head for the cuts. On top of that, he actually sawed "lumber". He worked the cant for stress, turned it accordingly, etc. From my birds-eye view, everyone else was squaring up and sawing thru and thru. Not saying they didn't saw an acceptable product, but Hank was clearly taking extra time to ensure his lumber was "right".
Log Scale Sawn - +/- 1475 bdft / hour
Actual Recovery Sawn- 1656.72 bdft / hour with NO setworks

You should be proud as you definitely earned it! And Hank the sawyer should be proud too, because only a few people probably knew the extra steps he was taking. Kasco WoodMaxx, Cutting Edge and Baker for the win!
-
That is an impressive win. Can only say that it makes me feel good to see the good guys do well.
-
Amen to that.
-
I'm pumped for you man that's awesome, huge win, congratulations!

Wish I could read between the lines just a bit better than I can. Sounds very interesting with the hint of; but not really.

I would love to see the portable mill shoot-out with a dimension mill added in (Mighty Mite or a Mahoe)
and to really heat it up add a Meadows mobile circle mill.
Would be neat to see how they stack up.
What circle mill suppliers showed up this year??

McCormick Brothers was there next to me and had a very large selection of circle mill related parts/accessories. They had a couple new blades there also. Actually dropped off a 52" B style to them to get hammered and tensioned on my way to the PB Show. Super good guys that know their stuff.
Menominee Saw was in their usual spot but MUCH smaller display setup than what they have had in previous years. Visited with them a little when time allowed. Another group of good folks too.
Another company was there that makes setworks for large commercial circle and wide band headrigs.
