I am not a bow maker, but wouldn't it be a rather weak piece of wood?

frank i belive you are right......my uncle is starting to get me into the hobby, after talking to him he also said somthing about the birdseye not being strong enough and that it would have to be backed with other wood.      oh well.....thought it would look cool. thanks guys.

Osage is probably the most poplular bow material and would work great and look great with a veneer of Birds Eye!

Yes, I know, Osage is a great bow material.  I had a friend tell me he was going send  piece to me, for one of my past students to make a bow.  I am still waiting for the wood.  Oh well, stuff happens.  We all get busy and such. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :D

One of my students from many moons ago, made me a bow from some Osage that was growing in the Willamette Valley, South of me about 60 miles.
