Title: Stihl 034
Post by: DaveK on July 20, 2008, 10:56:40 PM
I quit using my 034 since I bought the 440 a year or two ago so I got the old saw out so for kicks and figured I'd cut a load of firewood.  Before I started, I threw a new 20" bar on and a new full comp chisel chain and started cutting.  I had forgotten how much grunt the saw has and I flew threw a load a wood in no time at all.  It was actually kind of fun cutting with it since I hadn't used it for so long.  I think I bought the saw around 85' and it is still a darn good saw.  Anyone else still run a 034?

Not an 034 but I ran 036's for 10 years while I had a logging business.  I dropped, limbed and bucked logs with those 036's and they ran awesome.  I still have my original 036, just put the third clutch in it but haven't even ever had to do the rings or piston.  Amazingly tough saw!

We were out bid with one minute left on an 038 2 nights ago! We got a husky 365 the next morning for 3 bucks!
