I made a visit, last week to the MD factory, East of Portland. I got to see a new version of my hydraulic mill. Some major and minor changes will be in the offering. I understand that they are planning on having the mill ready for the Oregon Logging Conference in February, at the Eugene Fairgrounds.
-
So come on Frank you can't just throw out this and not give us some details, what major changes are they doing?
-
I may have to drive down to check out the equipment displays.
-
Does that mean your goung to do the Show and Tell Frank?
-
OLC.........
Last time I attended was disappointing.....and was not the only one.
Increase of space cost to vendors.........caused a lack of equipment display and vendors.
Frank, any heads up on how this year's conference exhibitor turnout will be?
-
Well, John, the outrigger supports will be quite different, with a hydraulic cyclinder pushing down to the ground, rather than the other versions of using a turnbuckle system for each outrigger. There will be no log turning device like mine and the log stops will be much heaver in design along with the log lifts. There is also a chain unloading system for the slabs as well as lumber if you wish.
Steve Wiley, I have not heard any thing on the issue of fees and the number of participants as vendors. The last time I was there, the wind was blowing the rain sideways and it was very chilly.
As to the thought of me helping demo the unit, I am not sure, yet.

Guess I have been out of the circle to long :o
I thought 'John' worked for MD ???
-
He left a couple years ago, or more.

It's coming up on 4 years now, since I've been with Mobile Mfg. Co. I am now a project manager at an architectural sheet metal company. I just completed my second high raise condo project in Portland, I'm still learning the business, but I enjoy really getting into it, it's very satisfying to be a part of all the projects I've worked on, my wife ::) will tell you that I drive her crazy pointing out the buildings I've worked on as we drive around town. So Frank how are the peepers? When is a good time to come down and see the operation, I'm busy for the next few weekends, cleaning up after the recent wind stom, afew trees went down out at my father-in-laws place.

John,
Are those downed trees in Troutdale?
Let me know if you need help.
-
Justd give me a call, John and let me know a couple three days before you want to arrive.
-
Frank, so any word on the logging conf., what are the dates of this years show?
Stephen, we're not going to cut up the trees for a while, they are down in the field and not obstructing any thing right now, a good spring time project.
I've still got my mill for sale, I have another guy who's interested, so I might be taking it out and demonstrating it for him, i've now got the trailer reinforced and painted and jack stands installed.
any one else out there interested?

I believe the date are Few 19,20 and 21 I do not believe I will be going, at this time.

Darn, I've got a first aid class on that Saturday, I was thinking about running down there on Saturday, oh well, I think they're missing out on the "Pender" credibility factor, I always felt that having you down there gave such a boost to our presence, it's Mobile's loss, I know you put in some long days, the couple of years you joined me at the conference, that's why I always tried to make it worth you while.
I'm going to fab up the prototype for the engine cover this week, to get the bugs worked out.
-
Thank you for the compliment, John. I have not been invited and I did not want to force myself onto them. I believe that they are planning on having the newly designed trailer and all the new trinkits for the show.
As to the cover, I have been thinking of something that would come from the side and not over the top. Then, you could have a door type side that would close. Just a thought.
-
Frank you need to go! Of all the people that could use a nice break to visit with friends you are surly at the top of the list! Take a vacation for at least a day ;D
-
I just got my invite to help demo the new mill trailer and system. ;D
-
;)
