Well, my friend that is a master metal faber, has begun the log loader. that I will pull with my F450. I have taken a couple three pictures, yesterday and will try :D and get Alice to post them and other photos asthe project progresses.
-
Frank, got sealant?? I can come over tommorrow and pick it up and take pics to load here.
-
Frank, Are you building the trailer from the ground up or using a trailer you have? how long is it going to be? I got a price down here to build one without the grapple for $6000.00 :o
-
Carl, the trailer is being built from the tires up. We are using 3 x 6 x 3/16 wall tubing for the main outer frame. The axels are two 10,000 lb. torsian (sp) axels. Near the end of the trailer will be a duce and a half millitary winch that will be able to yard logs to within reach of the loader. We will hang a Skookum from the loader boom to run the haywire through, for the yarding.
For the tongue we are making a reach type system that will telescope to all for the truck to move some if needed to load logs with the loader. There will be two hydraulic outriggers on the backend of the trailer from a retired backhoe.

Great idea on the winch ;) I have a winch mounted on front of my bobcat trailer for picking up one or two logs I gust drag um up the backand go ;) A log trailer sure wood be nice ;D
-
Frank whats the progress on the log trailer? Have you started it yet?
-
Carl, yes, the project has begun. I stopped by yesterday and found two large Freightliner tractor trucks in the shop. They were in dier need of repair. Boths trucks belong to a very good friend and needed to get back on the road as soon as possible, so, my project gets to play third fiddle to the trucks needs and a friend. The friend is also the chair of out local soil and water board, to which I am a member.
Anyway, the project is on hold for a couple three days, I suspect.

Frank, how about a update on the log trailer build hows it going?
-
I have not been on site for several days, so I am not sure of progress. I will bew checking in, near the first of the week, I hope. So blasted busy I have little time for such.
-
Frank, If you think about it bring some pics of the log trailer your having built ;D
-
I will. Carl. They are doing this as their time permits. They have suddenly been quite busy with farm machinery and equipement repairs for folks. I have to take a back seat so to speak as they are doing this for me for nothing.
-
Well, you cant beat the price
-
Frank, any thing new on the trailer build?
-
Yep! Just made a visit on Monday. The tower is mounted and they were prseping the loader arm for installation. Balance on the main trailer frame is now the biggest issue along witht he tongue length and positioning. Still working out some kinks in the control panel and hydraulic ports, but nothing real challenging.
-
Frank. Hows the trailer build going?
-
GDooing slow, Carl. I have to be fit in beween farm trucks and equipment needing repairs. Since there is a limited fee to me for this they have to earn their dollars when they are at the door. One farmer friend of mine had four of his 15 semi trucks in the shop on the same day for a week. Major issues with the trucks. So, my loader takes backseat to the farmers needs and I do not have a problem with that role.

Things are on the move. Put in the fuel container yesterday and the seat location is attatched on a tenative basis. I took them the container for the hydralic oil yesterday. I was looking around here for what might work and it was suggested by a friend that one of my two old 4' propane tanks would do the trick. Well it sure will as there is a place right close to oil pump and motor, for it to fit just perfectly.

Frank how about a update on the trailer build ?
-
I have not been there for several weeks, myself. I will do so checking and see what is happening. I bought a bank of valves a couple weeks ago and they picked them up in Salem. That set me back on my chair, when I got the bill. :'(
-
Frank, Whats new with the log trailer build ?
-
Not much. They have been working on local farmers equipment.
-
have any luck on your trailer frank
-
Ihavehad to hold off a while to gather more funds for the project. :'(
-
Bump.....
8 years gone by. You must have a little funds by now ;D
Sorry to "pick at the scab" if this is a sore subject but I'd love to see it.
