cough
« on: March 06, 2012, 08:30:39 PM »
What a challenge.  We have been very, very ill around here for at least 4 weeks.  My temp a couple days ago was up to 103.5.   I think it has passed, but not the cough.  Something you do not want to acquire. :'( :'( :'(

Thanks guys.  Still hanging onto the cough.  Been a rough few weeks.  Then we had 5 inches of snow, this morning.   Snow is all but gone, now.

Only got three inches of snow on this side of the valley.  Glad I don't live where it's cold.  ;) ;)  Generally just have to worry about the the rain.

Get well Frank.

Hit 82 here couple days ago.  We have NEVER had a warm winter like this!  Farmers are already working the ground, about a month in advance.

Interesting part of that is the Seed companies are warning not to plant early but not becuase of weather.  Turns out there is ONLY enough SEED for one planting of all the acreage being farmed!  ALL the SEED companies have put out this warning to the farmers.

What happens now when the rains flood out a crop after planting?  No seed to replant so less crop.  Less crop SHOOTS the price through the roof and who pays?  WE THE PEOPLE!

I am afraid its going to get very ugly very fast!

Supply and demand, Kirk, supply and demand.

I believe most seed is hybrid, now. That way, saving back seed won't get you near the yield. However, you don't pay through the nose for seed, either.

i read  if you save seed from hybrid plants its jail time as monsanto owns the seed even if you raised it.
once you buy there seed you cant harvest it for seed.monsanto only sells you the rights to the crop for that year , if you have left over seed & try to hold it for next time your breaking the law
they have allready proscuted some farmers

That is something I have read about, also.

It's ALL going to commercial interests to control the food chain, as well as the energy chain. Just a matter of time, before it hits the proverbial fan.
