Saw blade R.P.M. 25" - Any ideas ?
« on: September 05, 2012, 10:28:31 AM »
Hi There,

I've got an old rip saw run off a diesel motor and belt. I'm re-furding it, the prob is the motor does not have enough grunt so i'm going to run it off the p.t.o
on a tractor.

I need to find out what the blade r.p.m should be so i can gear it accordingly. The blade has a 25 inch diameter.

Do you have any idea ?

Many thanks

Any idea of who made the blade, and a model number?

If I had no information to go on, and knowing it is a buzz saw, i would run it at least 1000 rpm. Large blades, like on circle mills, like 500 rpm and higher...slow speeds tend to make a blade run hot, and it will cup or worse.
