Bust a gut trying
« on: May 24, 2013, 08:47:12 AM »
Damn,  just start making good money and bust a gut!

Two days ago the surgeon cut me open and fixed a hernia.  I'm in the ouch mode.

Got a walnut in the back yard that needs slabbed.

Got a 42" oak lined up as soon as I can (and maybe one more)

Got a 40"+ sycamore to saw in Salem town on the 15th of July

Gonna be cutting a bunch of smaller fir just north this fall

And got a guy that wants gun stocks cut out of a big walnut that's going to call back.

Just ordered a 10k trailer that due for pick in two weeks.

And doc says don't even want to fart hard for the next two weeks.

But the wife loves me and keeps telling me to sit down (and shut up).

OHHHhhhhhhhh, I feel for you, Steve.

When I was a young buck, I had a small bulge in the gut from loading trailer load of Sea Clams 2-3-4 nights a week as a second job. I was EXTREMELY careful, even though I was climbing power poles for a first job. Worked right on through the bulge thing with the clam job, until I accomplished my goal, and quit.

Never did have anything done with it, though. It just kinda went away ??

My Mom's cousin had a double and had to lay on the ground to get the gut back inside the cavity. Finally had it fixed with the screen mesh deal. 2 weeks later, he and I were swinging a 12# sledge hammer, working on his field mower bush hog.

Take it REAL easy, and you should be good to go in 3 weeks or so, I would think.

Well thanks and ouch for you too.  The info the hospital handed out said they don't just go away (for what it's worth) else I would have tried to suffer through.

Nice to have work lined up, but not feeling good due to injuries, well it sucks!  Hope you get to feeling better soon....did they say how long you'd be out of the game?

6 weeks from date of surgery (two are gone) 'till I can go full bore with only, "if it hurts" back off.  4 weeks before any lifting and no more than 15 lbs 'till then.  Saw doc yesterday and she was pleased with results so far.  Damn I'm bored!

I've considered taking up a management position but every time I tell the wife to do something she looks at me funny!

Reverse psychology, Steve.  ::)  Anything you want done, just tell the Mrs., that YOU will take care of it. She is NOT about to have you incapacitated 1 day longer than absolutely necessary.

This DOES work, especially on Italian bosses. I used it for 4 years on my Italian Boss, when I was climbing poles.

Steve, sorry to hear about the injury.  Sounds like you've got a real going business.  Wish I were closer to help out.  Give it time to heal.
Nothin' to it... nothin' to it, at all.  All a feller needs is a little brain and enough muscle to hold it off the ground.

Thanks for the thought.

Years ago I pushed to hard with a broken arm and wound up paying for it with a cast on the arm for almost two years, so I'm at least a little reluctant.

You know how it is though, broken foot or not the horse still need shoed.
