Try being retired, boy and girls. ;D

One's style gets cramped quite often, with that occupation.

Classroom attendance being required, five days a week.   I was usually there between 5:30 and 6 each morning, and left at 4 in the afternoon.  The last two years I went on two thirds time, which ment that I could leave at 12:20 each day.  I chose that to ease myself out of the system, rather than an all day approach.  The afternoon helped set the stage for increaseing sawmilling production and consulting services I was developing.

My father was a teacher for 37 years.  I know the schedule oh to well.  As you, he was dedicated to his job of educating the young.

Its sad that in many areas our Teachers are not paid near enough for what they do.

Locally, a first year math teacher can bring $29,000 before taxes.  That same teacher in the suburbs of Chicago will be $48,000.

Its no wonder our small towns are drying up.   :(

Kirk, I started out a $4,200 a year, full time, in 1968.  Retired 30 years later at $38,500.

At the beginning of my 5th year a friend offered me $100,000 as year, jet at my disposal, a castle in Spain, condo on the Gulf of California, in Mexico and an office with a comute of only 20 miles each day, from my home on Monmouth, Oregon.

I turned it down, because I wanted to be an educator.  Did I succeed?  I think so.  Do I miss something I never had? Nope!

How about the sign progress?

The weather's been to nasty to work on it any Frank. I am going to build a jig to cut the tenons with my mill. I know a guy that made one and it works great. EZ to make too. I'll post pix when I get it made.
Thanks The WoodButcher

I hear you on the weather.  We got about an 1" of ice followed by 3-4" of snow last night and then it hit 40 this afternoon.  I have not seen so much mud in my life.

Now if I only had one of those fancy forklifts that could go through the mud ;D

Twenty some days later, we are experiencing very heavy snow squals, butnot much sticking.  The coast is bseing hit really hard with sticking snow , closed highways and some pretty sorry sounding accidents in the Coast Range at the higher elevations.   :'(

Woodbutcher, any update on your sign?  The photo on you post looks like a Norwood mill.  I've been running an MX34 for a little over a year & really like it.  Looking forward to trying a little post & beam work.
Nothin' to it... nothin' to it, at all.  All a feller needs is a little brain and enough muscle to hold it off the ground.
