Good photo.
NOW, IF you are interested, I could advise you how to build a hydraulic-electric clamp, or even, an all electric clamp. It will fit on the mill track-bed, so, not have to be moved. It's not difficult if you have a welder and bandsaw or GOOD hacksaw blades. Gearing for the advance retract is crucial. You could use a wheelchair geared motor. We did, but, it was too slow for us. We needed production, so, bought a gearmotor for $125.00
It's a 12V rig, so, a battery charged will last all day. Where is the mill kept used? Is it stationary, even easier to mod. Make a frame to drop in and bolt or weld to your track frame.
The up-down we used a used outdrive lift cylinder from a Cobra Johnrude
outdrive from a marine application. You will be surprised how easily you can move logs-cants, with a little engineering. No several trips to lock-unlock a lever, adjust for height, etc.
IF you have good "scrounging" genes, it's a fairly easy project. I HATES to have to high step over frames to do any adjusting.
Let me know if you are interested.
