Look on eBay. You will probably find one close to you. There are a few places people list them there, like business and industrial, and eBay Motors.

What do you want to haul on it?  If your thinking about hauling logs from time to time remember that most common trailers have those stupid fenders that stick up on the sides of the trailer making it a real pain haul logs.

You need to be more specific, Steve.  I might just have what you are looking for, or know where it is located.

You both could come out here and have such an event, for Steve. He is only about 60 miles across the Valley.  I have a couple three welders so no one would feel left out of welding.  We could run in shifts. ;D

Next door the State Forestry office has a trailer made to haul logs and it's something to think about.

It's an open frame dual axle with four cross pieces to rest the logs on and raise the bed to fender height.  The stakes can can be flipped down to act as loading ramps and they tow it behind a 3/4 ton pickup.  Tried to read the axle rating but the tag is beyond reading.  5 lug wheels with heavy duty trailer tires so looks like 3500# each.

I'll try and get some pics and measurements and post.

I like the use of the arms to fold down to use as loading ramps.....should be a snap to build when we headed out Kirk ::) ::) ;) ;) :D

I put some trailer pictures in my gallery but had fits trying to get them to a size that fits.  Now they are too small.  Didn't know how.  Where's those directions?   How do I put them here?

Photo resizing and Gallery Instructions.

http://www.sawmillandtimberforum.com/index.php/topic,58.new.html#new

The usual pixels that seem to work without losing quality and still large enough to view is 450x450 and 30K in size.  The pics you have are 3 and 4K and one is 25K, which is well within the file size limits but I am guessing during the file size reduction the pixels was brought down lower than needs be.  The instruction on the link above should take care of it.

Wow, sorry I haven't been around lately, I've been working on a HUGE video project for my Dad.

The trailer will be used to haul anything basically from our house to where we want to build the cabin. A 100 mile drive. It may occasionally haul logs, but only if there not too heavy, we only a have a ford ranger (the toughest truck in NYC no doubt, I beat the crap out that baby on the back rodes) and it's not supposed to haul anymore than 3500 lb's although i'd bet it could take 5k w/ a Weight distribution kit.

We were originally thinking of getting a 7x12, then a 7x16....
We are planning on hauling timbers on it from time to time also.

I'm trying to convince my dad to buy a welder so I can build a trailer myself....

Here you go SteveG.

This is the pictoral of the start to finish infamous log trailer that so many people told us would not work.   ;D

Basic sinlge wide MH frame.  These beams are 40 foot long.  We chopped it to make a 30 foot trailer

After chopping for length we cut the wings off the side, or almost off.  we left enough for our side to be attched to give us a full 8 feet wide.

Next we cut out portions of the cross bracing so we could install two additional I-beams for streangth

One I-beam installed

Second I-beam installed

Now to install the cross bracing for added strength.

With Buzz's guidence I became a pretty good welder :D

Final paint job and trial run.

The maiden voyage.  The first load if I recall correctly was 17 logs.  The trailer has been working flaulesly ever since!

Very nice! Thanks. But for some reason the pictures make it look like the trailer is bowed... maybe it's just an illusion?

The load of 17 logs bowed it a little but it sprang right back when unloaded.  It was a bit to much for the beast.

Max load to date was 28,000lbs.

Mike if I recall it was just under 2000lbs but that may have been without the oak decking.
