I have an old cast iron Parks 12"planer, being a cheap yankee I didn't want to spend the bucks for a good sized electric motor and I wanted it to be more mobile. I made a three point hitch mast to attach to the handy height metal table it was mounted on. Next problem was getting from 550 rpm up to planer speed. I had an old machinery transmission the type used on old flat belt drive lathes, put it in backwards drove the output shaft and put a big pulley on the input shaft. Works good, power up the gazoo, and the mess is somewhere I don't worry about. I may be repeating myself but I'am old enough not to worry about it. Frank C.
