Had the chance to cut for a previous customer Thursday and Friday of this week. I went out and looked at the log pile a few weeks ago and told him we could get it done in a hard day. There was 20 logs to be cut but to be safe told him plan on two days.
Well, I set a new record for two days of cutting. Over 7700 BF of finished lumber! Actually cut it all in a day and a half! Had no idea you could cut so much by simply cutting a LOT of table top slabs and leaving live edge on pretty much everything possible.
Pulled up and got the mill set up and snapped this shot. Many of those logs were 20-30 foot long and later got cut into anything from 10-15 footers. We ended up cutting over 35 logs. Had a couple white oaks that were 30" at the base, 26" on small end and 14 foot long. Amazing logs with FAS boards 5 cuts deep.
Mill set up and getting prepped for sawdust to fly.
This ONE stack is what they have to come back for on multiple trips. If you notice the trailer in the above pick, they FILLED that trailer with 2000 BF of table top slabs walnut and white oak. Another small trailer had over 600 BF of table top slabs.
This stack measures 110" across, 10-16 feet deep depending, and 72" high. There is over 5500 BF stacked here.
