« on: April 23, 2016, 03:19:06 PM »
Hey all I am seriously lonely for some saw dust!!! I have sold my big circle mill a couple of years ago AND I MISS IT!

.I would like to get pics of cutting the tree...miling constructing and flyig the plane!!!!

Hey, everbody needs a dream right?

So since I live in the land of the sitka spruce and white/red spruce why not.
I am thinking about building yet another mill or purchasing a all hydraulic rig homemade for about 3000.....any othe Alaskans readin this....how about an old Oregonian sawmiller ...anything????

P.S......After reading this I realized this sounds a lot like florida deadheader AKA harold....???

Can't say I am an Alaskan by any stretch.  Did work up there for 2 1/2 years but can't clam to be an Alaskan.

Sounds like you have a dream.  Follow it.

Hey Harold....I just flew the coop and came back up here last year when I got offer to manage a lodge and be a bear guide(alaskan brown bears) so its like I am starting over with nothing. I am lookin at a homebuit hydraulic band rig....but will probably go with a simple tire rig like your old one.
ps I live here and know lots of people on those shows....came close to being in one....AND STILL watch every stupid one ...HAHA I must like Alaska!

I watch those shows mostly for the rigs they use and the scenery. Also spot the problem areas as they show up, especially the Nome bunch.  ::)

Question for you Alaska fellas, can you dig a well in most parts so you don't have to lug water in the winter. Seems it would be labor well spent. Seems a warm indoor pottie would be a good way to lure more house heffers north. Frank C.

Depends on what part of the state your in.  Water is readily available but its getting the equipment into the place that can be problematic.  Winter water normally is not a problem as there is plenty of snow that can be melted for water.

Hey Buzz Sawyer,

Just for fun:Speaking of bear hunters

I am/was? related to Bill Pinnell  http://alaskachildrensliterature.org/node/6772 but only met him once when he was in Los Angeles drumming up business.

He was "uncle" to me but I knew his sister (aunt Ollie) better.

I was airdale navy and tried my dangest to get stationed at the air station in Adak  they sent me to the Phillipines , go figure. Our chief just came from there, he tried and I had friends in the system but it was a small installation and they just didn't need anyone with my rate, Frank C.
