Hello from a new member
« on: March 14, 2018, 11:41:32 AM »
Hi fellas,

New guy here, figured I'd say hello and thanks for the add.  Looks like a decent group of people here.

As for me, I grew up logging and running my dads early model Norwood mill.  Been quite a few years since I did that, but recently bought a nice chunk of property with good timber on it so will be back logging and sawmilling as we start building on the place.  Have new mill coming, just waiting for the snow to melt now.

As a side note, I joined the forestry forum earlier but it didn't take long to see that place is run by a little wanna-be Hitler .  This forum looks like a much better fit.

Cheers

Welcome to the group.

Yes it is different here than over at the other site.
Much more gentlemanly here and not as much worry about offending the "delicate sensibilities" of the owner's (Jeff) ego.
No begging for money all the time either.
Integrity is not just doing the right thing.

Welcome, The one thing I really like about this site is you can actually read peoples real world experiences about a product or company with out fear of hurting a sponsors feelers.

That's what I like.  I just spent months researching different mills, and want to hear about product issues and how the company deals with them.  Anyone looking for a new product should be able to read honest reviews of a company & the products they sell.

I mentioned a negative (but honest) experience I had with one of forestry forums sponsors, and ol' Jeffy had a hissy fit.  So I gave him my negative (but honest) opinion of himself.  8)

Jeff isn't much, and he is the typical keyboard warrior. I bet in person, he would not have such a high opinion of himself. If he was as hot a property to the sawmill world as he pretends to be, why was he unemployed and running a forum? [answer] Because he is a keyboard expert. Not a real miller of anything except deception.

I too was banned from there because I wouldn't back down from the truth and despise being bossed around like I was in grade school.  Also, during the back and forth with him, he's very lofty with his thoughts about himself and delights in talking down to others.  And in the little message he leaves when you get the "you've been banned" page it's a little pot-shot and you can almost see him snickering because he knows you can't say anything back at that point.

Well, rest assured, he cruises these pages incognito like a little bitch because paranoia and power/control of others go hand in hand.  He reads what is written here.  So, hiya Jeffers!  Having fun over there being a little Hitler?  Your true self is becoming more and more apparent all the time, isn't it?  Your greed will be the end of you.  Ta ta.

Now that's funny.

Mine said "We dont allow jerks here"   Which is a little ironic coming from that guy.

Even better was I told him to delete my account before got the chance to 'ban' me.  Must've really irritated the poor guy.  8)

My little message said "Your words have caught up with you".  It was immediately after I joined here and was complaining about what happened, basically that because I wouldn't back down from telling the truth over there he banned me.  It's all that was said.  I never even called him any (truthful) names yet at that point.  Turns out I don't miss the place at all!  Not with this gem to peruse every day.

When he said "We don't allow jerks here" what he really meant was "I don't allow free thinkers, honesty, or patriots here".  You're better off, trust me.  Nothing screams repression than feeling like you had to gently walk on eggshells every time you posted over there, wondering if you've "offended" somebody or said a word about a sponsor that wasn't shining with brilliant gold plating.  Many, many of the old timers over there quit posting and now just read silently because of Jeff's bullshit.  It's sad, funny, maddening, and bewildering all at the same time.  Jeffy boy's got real problems in his fake, greed filled, lie filled, half truth telling life.  Don't you, Jeff?

My member # over there is around 187 if my old brain is not too far off. See where I am now. ;D

We even had a member drive over 300 miles to see what we were building. No one could believe we could make a large copy of a WM Lt40. We had whats probably still the longest running DIY Band sawmill build thread in the history of the FF.

I've probably got over 200 photos on that site that are "his" property. In the beginning, it was for the same reason most forums want the photos posted to them, so it doesn't break up the threads. Then, it became the property of his forum. Can't be deleted or altered in any way, now.

I know I would have never tried to tackle a WM style sawmill, oversized, on any day.  So kudos to you for that one!  And the fact that you were one of the first and are now here speaks volumes.

It's funny to me that many here are banned members from the FF and yet everybody gets along fine and nobody abuses any of the freedoms.  Maybe, just maybe, we're not that bad after all?  Maybe, just maybe, we're folks who don't like being bullied, told how to speak, told what to write, told not to *gasp* offend anybody.  Hell, the FF is a communist forum!  "Stay in line, you peasants, and pay me while you're at it or it's off to the gulag for you!"

It's all good because we will slowly gain more patriots as he gains robots and liberals.

Harold, how far does an American dollar go down there in Costa Rica?  Say, if I was to be able to get $1000 per month, would I live comfortably, poorly, or king-like?

Ox. Need more info.  ;D  What kinda king we talking here ? We live on my huge SS income especially with the generous $2.00/month raise we just were awarded, $830.00/month. ::) We own our little piece of paradise, and the taxes are lenient. We have just under 3 acres and are way up near the top of a hill and less than 1/2 mile from the blacktop road.

Our biggest expense is food. You would think that owning acreage would be an easy way to grow most of our food, but, I have abandoned a garden 3 times for lack of interested support.

We have no registered car so no expenses for that, we use the bus system.

I plan out the expenses so we never run short of money, but, we get close sometimes, because of the projects or lack of info from the wife when something she forgets? to tell me about, shows up.

I married a CR woman, so I get permanent residency, but, usually, $50,000.00 in a CR bank or running a business that employs at least 6 CR workers is necessary to dodge the 90 days in country, then 3 days out system to deter deadheads. IF you are a Nicaraguan, you get all the frills including some payment, even though they are not always legally here.  ::) ::) ::)

I would suggest a visit and see for yourself if you and your significant other ? would like it here.  We have a spare room for a couple of days and you can travel around to different areas because there are micro-climates all over CR because of the marshland to the highest mountains and the volcanos, 5 I believe.

There are a lot of different ways to live here and we have no A/C or heat, so that's a non expense. Other areas you NEED A/C to break the humidity in the house.

Pm if you want to discuss things further and get a list of questions ready.

Forgot, we can also Skype on the computer for free if'n yaonto.  ;D

Harold - thank you for the detailed explanation of your circumstance.  I wasn't seriously considering moving down there, my question was more curiosity than anything.  I've often heard that Americans on smaller pensions can live quite comfortably in foreign countries and wondered if your situation was the same case.  I'm glad to hear that you're getting along OK down there.  I too have struggled with gardens because of lack of support.  My lack of support is a lazy family who don't want to do nothing but sit in the house most of the time.  Except when it comes to ramming or glamping, then they're Johnny On the Spot throwing money around that I've carefully tried to save to get out of debt.  Pisses me off but the wife works so there's not much I can say about it really.

Kirk - you saying you've never met a man so deplorable really raises my eyebrows.  You've seen some sketchy and crooked characters in your patriotic house cleaning, so your statement really rings a tone!

Ramming is ramming around - running all over God's creation burning up gas and money.  "She likes to ram on the weekends."

Glamping is glamorous camping - they call it camping but it's in a camper type pop up thing.  In my mind camping is a tent and you sleep on the ground. "She like to ram around on weekends and go glamping up there in McDonough".

I resemble those remarks,  :o, JR, looking forward to hearing about your adventures in your new acquisition, and future milling projects, I know I sure miss my mill, but I know its' at least being used, and the fellow is doing it proud,. as far as I can tell, he made an Alabama outdoors kinda show, which was pretty cool to see him running the mill.  As to folks getting side ways with each other, I think it happens possibly by accidental wording or phrasing of comments, but at the end of the day, its water under the bridge, (I hope) .  Reviewing or commenting on manufacturers and or their service department is straight out the barrel here too, and it should be.  And I can testify that I've had good experiences with folks that others have not, and the reverse as well.  Timing and personnel on any given day can be deal makers or breakers. But heck I've seen that around town here, some folks cant' get along with others, all the while the same folks to other folks are the best in the world.  Crazy dynamics of human relations I reckon.

Harold - just so you know, I'm not the one who coined those phrases - I'm simply the one who is explaining what they mean because you asked.  I grew up with the term ramming (pronounced rammin') and had to ask what glamping was years ago because, like you, I didn't know what it meant and thought they must have mis-spoken!

 ouch, that's gotta hurt!  But I do like the name Jeff the Deplorable.  He pretends he's  when in fact he's  >:D.  I wonder if he's a liberal left winger at heart?  He sure does like socialism.

I think of this sometimes:  the fact that an entire forum was started because of his evil ways speaks volumes.  And the fact that he tries to keep all this evil stuff a secret and will only reveal half truths (of course, these are the truths that shed favorable light upon himself) but not whole truths, because whole truths will start making him look bad and the king can't look bad, right?  lol  Greedy, crooked and power hungry lifeforms are fun to laugh at so I'm glad he's still around.

Maybe we are just getting old and do not get the "NEW" way of communicating.
Communication is supposed to be the transfer of ideas and concepts from one person to another person or persons.

Sometimes I feel that the English language is going down the toilet.  Yes I know that it is always evolving and thus there are always changes but sometimes words are words.  The glamping I can almost see as it came from glamorous/glorified camping or so I have been told when I first heard it at an RV dealer several years back.

I have never heard the use of the the new word "ramming" until this thread brought it up several posts ago.
Ox's explanation indicates that it has been around for a while and maybe it is a regional thing but how did it come about?

Then there is the current use of "bad" and "sick."  When those two words are used today I have no idea what the person speaking means.  Is it truly bad and sick or is it being used in the opposite manner?

Of course you can not be gay (The term was originally used to mean "carefree", "happy", or "bright and showy")  anymore as it had been totally co-opted to mean something else entirely.

The list is endless of words being changed to mean something other than what the word has meant for much of history.
The lexicon of the English language has evolved  and not for the better in many/most cases for the last 20-30 years.

On a totally different subject, but related in the sense of word usage, and the corresponding meanings of the words being used, I had to do a google this morning on some words.  It turns out there is an ever growing use of (terms & phrases) that are frequently used in texting, tweeting and even on forums much like this one. Some of these (word, phrases) catch on and become well known, while others are a fad and like fads simply fade.  It's been said that there is in fact an evolution of dialects even within our continental borders.  Now you take all this into account, add in a few conversations, conversations that are coming from different regions of the US, mixed with the varying circumstances that are involved within the same individual(s) and, well you have the makings for a very complex, confusing, but yet pertinent discussion. Many times these discussions are no more than reviving of old events, while others if fact have some current event status.  In this case, I rest, with the full assurance that karma does in fact have an impact.  We all have experienced it or witnessed the effects in our walk.  And to the point of  glamping?  I'm guilty when I get a chance, these bones have had enough rocks and roots jousting the rib cage.

You're probably right, Kirk, even though he's likely covered by taxpayers in this regard (Medicare/Medicaid).

Isn't he supposed to be disabled from bad shoulders pushing levers and buttons in a sawmill operator's booth?  I remember seeing a picture or 3 of a massive ditch he dug - by hand -  all in one day.  Seems like it was 100 feet long and maybe 3 foot deep or so.  I too am disabled (for real - mainly degenerative spine disease, traumatic brain injury, pre-dementia) and know for sure I could never have dug that ditch.  It seems at this point he's told so many lies and fooled so many people that he even puts up his own lies for the world to see because he can't remember all the lies he's told!

I would love to know all the lies and deceiving that's been done in his life.  I've never, ever seen another person like him.  He's truly one of a kind and I thank God for that.  Can you imagine a whole bunch of Jeffs running things?  Oh wait - we have the U.S. Government.  Right.  Check that one off.
