I don't know how long they have been doing it but Lowes will given any vet 10 percent off their purchases. You just have to sign up no proof needed its tied to your phone number with a "V" after it, good for wife too. Got a ripper deal on an Hitachi 4 1/2 angle grinder kit regular $49.95 on sale $29.95 less 10 %. The kit has five grinding wheel that are alone worth $12.50. Have a nice Christmas guys. Frank C.

You can do this online via this link:
https://www.lowes.com/mylowes/login?context=military&cm_mmc=search_bing-_-Brand-%20Military-_-B_veterans_exact-_-lowes%20veteran%20discount%20registration&k_clickID=bi_303238763_1311717416652879_81982348525769_kwd-81982371136695:loc-190_c_71662&msclkid=edc56becf3b2109062d237f0ff93033c
If you're having problems with that link you can just do a search for Lowes Veterans Application and it should give you the link.  I tried it some time back and had problems and just took my DD214 into Lowes.  I already had a My Lowes Account and they added my Veterans status to it.  You may have to ask for the discount when the cashier doesn't ask you.  Home Depot offers one but it's been spotty for me and they require you to get an ID from the VA.  That took me quite a few trip to my local VA facility.  I also found out that I can get my car license for free as well as my drivers license.  Here in Georgia there is a Georgia Veterans agency that does that and you're best to look up that website for information.
Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Home Depot has been very good for me and they are close.
Lowes however will give you the 10% discount on the sales price and HD will not let you do that.

Speaking of discounts:  NAPA give a veteran discount which generally better than a commercial price.

Big talk that the Lowes will be the next BIG Sears to close down.
I guess they are having problems...

Well if the "local" Lowes up in the next town is any model to go by I can see why they might fold.  There's always at least half a dozen workers standing around doing nothing or just milling around whenever I go in there, which I admit is infrequently, but maybe that just proves my point even more...
