New member... I had a tough time getting in...
« on: January 11, 2019, 11:02:51 AM »
I love working with wood. Anything from sawmills to wood burning.
I had a VERY hard time getting my user name and pass word to work
but with the help of Steve Hammond and the Sawmill and Timber Team
we got it working... I'm hoping to add many stories to the good one here.

Well no matter what happened you prevailed and now are here.  Welcome aboard.

Presume your moniker is the same as elsewhere?
You will really like this place.  You are much more free to discuss what is important and what you think.
A bit slow at times but it has become more active as folks join after being fed up with the other place.

:)

Well it depends upon your belief of the so called metaphysical "yin yang" philosophy.
The so called good/bad the heaven/hell concepts.

Since this forum represents what we see as the positive and the good in people and the method/manner in which you run this place it is left to the "gentle reader" to determine what the "other place" might represent.

Just an opinion which we are so free to voice here without any significant restrictions.
Thank you.

I have one BIG suggestion...
This forum need a contact button for other newbees for a way
to make contact when things aren't working. I had no way
to let anyone know that I could not log in. If it was not for
Steve I would not have been able to make contact.
I'm wondering how many people gave up trying to join up
and not having a way to report the problem.

I was one of the guys that got kicked off the other place for
saying that paying $20.00 for one pair of socks was crazy.
I had no idea at the time that the person selling them was
one of Jeff's sponsor's. We had a few rounds of crazy things
like that happen. I would still be there if he was not so rude.
I wont even try to go back there even though I miss it.
I'm happy to find a new home...

Another few thing that need attention is the questions ask
when registering...
One question is how many sides does a square have.
Normal I would say 4... But a square cube has 6...
But also inside and outside..
So when my registering and I was getting the message
ERROR TRY AGAIN. I was thinking maybe it was a cube
square. But that din't work either.
Then there is the question ...
How many FEE in a foot....
Trick question ?
Miss spelling or trick question.
Both one or 1 or none worked....
But I'm here.....  Smile....

It's good to have you here, K.  You'll like it here.  It's the freest place I've ever been a part of on the internet and for that there isn't strong enough words to convey the feeling of pride and comradery I have when I think about it.  The guys who started and moderate this forum are absolutely great guys, full of honesty and integrity.  That other place makes me feel dirty when I think back and remember how naive and gullible I was and how easily a few of the insiders and the founder lied about things.

Well I decided to bring the discussion to this thread so as to avoid the topic drift over on What did you do with your sawmill today.

I can see A.O. images just fine. A lot of images I can't see. I'm on a lot of other forums and I have no problems seeing or posting images.

The first and second images is the two you told me to take a screen shot of.
The last (#3) image is where I got my information from. I Right click on the page and choose (inspect).

I thought maybe the one bit of information was from a debugger  but was not certain.
The right click and inspect (inspect element) clarifies that, thanks.

From the message you got from clicking on the direct link that I put in the thread you clearly don't have the permission to view the gallery on that link.
You said that you can see pictures in the gallery for some users but not all and that I find intriguing, to say the least, as if you can see some gallery pictures then  why not all of them.  You never stated what happened when you clicked on the gallery drop down at the top of each page.  Maybe the pictures you see in some posts are not ones that were put in the gallery but from a link that someone used from dropbox or photo bucket or an attachment.

You state that you can see A.O. pictures but his are not in the gallery.
They are URL linked to his photo bucket account.
(? added top disrupt the link)
What other user's pictures can you see, if any?

Your issue with getting registered on the site  and how you eventually got registered could be the key.  If you were manually registered could that be the cause of a flag not getting set and thus no permissions???

Trying to duplicate your registration issue to see if that would cause me to have a gallery problem I found that I also had a registration failure.  I got an error message twice while trying to register a test name/ new persona and it failed me as well.

Kirk identified it.  I can duplicate every issue that you have mentioned if I run my browser in https.  Don't know if you are intentionally doing that or if your browser is doing it on its own but try as Kirk said and see if the issues is resolved.

Now that's kool... If I click on Kirks link without the "S" my browser puts it right back in.
If I go up and remove it again then I can see the pictures...
What goes?

OK.... So I did everything the link above told me to do...
I still get the "S" after the http But... I now can see the pictures
in the link from stuff that was for sale. But I went to my gallery
and I still could now see my image without first removing the
"S" from the http. Any idea how I can keep the "S" away?
