Windfall white pine
« on: April 03, 2019, 07:55:03 PM »
Heard a big crash today lost a 18" white pine, took out 16 feet of fence and landed on my sons car. Car got a few dents but nothing serious. I've been wanting to take the tree down for years its near my circular mill, workshop and house. I should be thankful it fell in the best place it could. Was going to  get a couple of saw logs from it but it was struck by lightning years back. I have tried several times to mill lightning struck trees, its not worth the effort they seem to get delaminated around the rings and the wood is not worth anything. It will keep me warm next winter, not that excited about pine but I mix it with hard wood. Frank C.

I know what you mean about the lightning hit trees.  Lighting hit = firewood.

Glad to hear it was the best possible scenario and not much damage from it.  Sometimes we get a lucky hand!
