Short Logs SUCK
« on: April 21, 2008, 04:12:41 PM »
 Man I hate it when people bring me short logs.  >:( There a real pain in the neck. This guy brought 6 logs that were just long enough to reach two bunks & only one log post, making turning the log a real pain. They were poplar logs and they have many shades of green in them. ;D I think I'm gonna start charging more for short logs as there is more work involved.

Thanks The WoodButcher

Good idea on the charging thought.  I charge more for such logs, if the majority are such.  I also charge more the smaller diameter logs, again if there are many of them.  I no more get a two by four or two out of the log and I am done.

Generally the charge is twenty percent more, across the board.

Never seen poplar with the dark walnut color before.  I was going to guess that it was walnut log since fresh cut walnut normally is green in color and then darkens after drying.

If I let some of our Cottonwood set for a few weeks, it will look much like the picture, as well.
