Hi everyone,

I am looking into getting a used sawmill for around $5000. We will be using it to mill about 10 or 15 logs and then selling it.... yeah we could have someone come in and do it but we want to have the experience of doing it ourselves. I would prefer it to be on a trailer and have as many hydraulics as possible - but I understand it might not be possible for the price range I've given. We will only need it for a few weeks but we might keep it longer than that.

Thanks,

Steve

I am not sure of the price on a LT15 from Woodmizer but I dont think there much more than your target price and it would be new.

Another option is to check out Cooks Saw and see what they have.

Kind of hard to beat this price. I am betting you could mount this to a steal frame with an axle and still be under the 5k you mentioned.

3 hours?  Did something go terribly wrong with the building of it or does this guy build mills to resell?

Any links that show pictures?

What size band blades does it take?

For what they are asking I would buy new from Cooks or WM.  Better support, which is a big plus, and better blade guide assemblies which can make or break a day of sawing.

the one for 8k has a bigger motor i belive a 23horse v-twin. i belive thats the kind WB has, this one has the 13 horse on it.
it is a manual mill so there ain't no hydro's on it.....but the few log's you got to do shouldn't be that bad.......

don't go by what i think/say though cause i'm a newbie to this my self.......this is just stuff i picked up....i too am trying to find a mill. ;)

Steve, I dont know if you have made your purchase or not but thought I would post some info for ya, we are going to start production on a 30" mill in less than a month, we are just waiting for the final drawings from our engineer. We plan to offer a complete saw carriage ready to saw with hydraulic tensioner and 13Hp Honda Engine for around $2500. The entire carriage is 1/4 wall tubing, and assembled by a cerified welder. We are going to garantee all parts on our mills for two years. Our policy is going to be, if your mill shows up on your door step and its not what you exspected then we will refund your money and pay to have it shipped back. If this is something that might work for you let me know. Oh and I am kinda new to this forum but if this is not allowed in here let me know, just trying to get the word out about us.

Thanks, Jared

Your welcome.

Lakeview,  nobody is from Lakeview unless it's a long way from Lakeview. ;D ;D

I worked at Kingsley Field for about 8 years and had to go through Lakeview 5-8 times a year to service radios at an FAA mountain top.  Sometimes stayed overnight in Lakeview when the weather was bad.  Not what I would consider an industrial center.

Have to check with Kirk but I think banner space is free or close to it on this site.

Just hope you offer info and knowledge not just sawmills.

Lakeview used to be pretty lively, at one time there was 5 sawmills in the area. If you want to make a living you have to be creative thats for sure. Yes we will be offering support for our customers, we have an mech engineer to answer just about anything you can think of when it comes to bandsaw mills. I will have to look into that banner deal thank you.

So what's the major type of timber you have in the area?

Wasn't there a small mill in Dairy that was cutting white sinker pine a couple of years back?  Seems I stopped and talked with them one day.  Thought that was cool but think they quit doing it.  Ran out of wood maybe?

We mostly have White fur and Poderosa pine, oh and of course lots of Juniper. I think there was someone doing that in dairy. Your prob talking about the guy who lived on the corner just before the train bridge. I think he moved to alaska but not sure?
