sawed some nice box elder today & wormy ash. the ash has rotten sap wood so im hopping the heart wood will hold the spalted & red color
i must be out of shape as my back is killing me
spent my xmass setting up & derusting craftsman 14" bandsaw as its been in barn storage for 4 years.
other than needing the tires replaced its operational now

after i get a face plate for my lathe im going to try this ash crotch on lathe
i have never turned ash so i dont know how it will turn out

Very nice job on the photos, MIke. Thank you for sharing. This making sawdust is an absolute blast, especially when one can come up with such pieces of wood.

I dont know what it is with Red oak south of Interstate 80 but it all seems to just suck. I know the feeling Mike.
I bet I could count on one hand the number of good RO logs I have gotten from around here. You had better cut it as soon as it hits the ground because it doesnt take long for the religion to set in
