You realize in a week or so someone's gonna have to do an unbiased knowledgeable review and the pro's and cons of these mills don't you?

That would probably take a year or so to do. So many different size mills from each manufacture with just as many options it would be quite the task.

I thought the same thing..plus you may as well save it so when new subscribing mill companies support this forum you can get some test models from them : )   and of course use them for contests down the road : ))  Plus with all the questions I'm gonna have.....

I got my Mobile Dimension catologue in the mail yesterday. So now I have prices and catologues from MD...WM and Peterson which are the three I think I have it narrowed down to...I think...assuming I sell my house so I can buy one.
Big open house here today now that I lowered the price A LOT!!
I think one of the big considerations is that you don't really need an edger or a planer really w/the MD like you do with the WM cept I think the WM is less expensive..except if you weigh out all the considerations and what they cost...well..I'm in the process of doing that but it's no easy task. Hardly apples for apples. Of the three I believe srvice is good with all of them. One issue I have with MD is that they only sell out of their NW factory. It'd probably cost me an additional thousand easy just to get it to me between the creating and shipping...depending on what options I'd want. I do have to say though...I really love that mill. Just more grist for the mill so to speak...lol.
Hmmmm...good tag line.

Andy, If I were in your shoes I would lean to the MD then the WM.  Although the Peterson has some great features, it is a labor intensive machine.  Far more so than the other two mills.  As you get older you are not going to enjoy pushing and pulling the saw head through every cut.

If you go WM, get the command console, which eliminates the walking on that mill, something already part of the MD  ;D

K- I do have to agree with you. as I said...I'm sure leaning  that way. It does seem quite a bit more expensive...I think...but if you weigh out some of the features in comparrison than not really. Its just amounts to what I'll be able to afford when the time comes. And when I look at all the accessories it's not about what extra's I'd want...its what I could do without for the time being.
When you add up the end stands and this and that vs just getting the whole trailer set up with just about everything you need right on it....
 We'll see where I am $$$ when the time comes. ??? :-\
The one thing thats kind of a drag is how much it'd be to ship...
everyone out in the Great North West has it made when it comes to Mills from there. Thats probably one of the reasons my friend Jim in Washington just bought the Linn Mill.
Hey....if there's a bidding war on my house I won't have to worry...yeh sure Bwahahaha  :o

I called Gary, from Linn Lumber mill, this afternoon and let him know we had his website listed here on the forum.  He thanked me and would try and stop by.

I listed that site (Linn) because my good friend Jim Blogett just bought it and is setting his mill up (Washington state). I'll try to get his azz over here to report on it.

OK..I did a lil' research regarding the Log-Master and apparently most all the the Google searches I did anyone that had one or knew of them loves them. Says they're incredably strong machines and they look even bigger in person than they do in the catalogues. All the people that have them claims the factory support is great. Who knows? Thats what I read.
One thing though...I can't seem to find anything about warranties

I do know the Log Master is a VERY BIG mill in person.

I recall some negative support issues several years back and have only talked to one person in two years that owned one.  They did not like it becuase of claimed electrical issues and lack of support.

Note that I said claimed.  I have no way of confirming this guys comments so dont know how true they are or are not.

Thing too is...I really didn't see all that much about it..what I stated in those previous posts was what I did read fwtw. For me personally I doubt I'd want such a big machine. I'm more the gypsy type...lol....and like I said...I didn't see a thing about the warranty which is a bit strange being most companies make that pretty prominent.

Warranties are an interesting issue. I can only speak to two companies and their warranties.  WM, and my company.

Just yesterday we had a customer from 1993 call about getting a leaking valve fixed.  I told him to send us the valve and we would fix it no charge as its under warranty.  He said the warranty is over since it was five years old.  I let him know, our warranty has increased every year for the last 16 years.  Not only was he shocked, he ordered more nozzles :)

WM, on more than one ocasion has made things right when the warranty was out.  I have never had a bad expereince with WM.  Stand up people that have always treated me fair.
