How many do you want and when do you want them.  I am sure the farmers around here could take care of the need.

If these locals cant then I know the farmer next to my Dads can.

Let me know.

Not sure of the breed but piglets are going for $15-20 each at the sale barn on Thursdays and most grown hogs are hefting market price, which is normally around $30-$45 per 100 lbs of live weight.

Kirk.....the problem around here is NOBODY even bothers to raise hogs....heck I may time my next trip that way around auction night and just buy a few on the hoof fattened up?!? Thats a decent price.

Just follow the market and thats pretty much the price.  I have seen them jump from $30/100lb to $90/100 in two days then back down again.

After Buzz Sawyers post mentioning super farms, I went and typed a lengthy reply and realized I started in on a rant and ended up waaaayyyyy off topic.  Let's just say I miss the days of small farms and businesses selling locally produced products to locals. ;D

Local produce is a growth industry out here.
Just heard that Jumbo "organic" eggs were selling for $6/dz. at the "Saturday Market"  My mothers' cousin in MO, over 80 years old now, called organic eggs yard eggs.  Had to hunt all over the yard to find them.

Dave, rants are good for the blood stream.  Gets things circulating and relieves pressure!

We have one of the largest super hog farms in the country just south of us.  They ship out 30,000 piglets a day.  This particular farm is a breeding operation and the truck traffic has all but bankrupted the funds for our roads and bridges.

We now have a new Township Supervisor (me ;D) and real change is about to hit the street!  Its time for accountabillity.  Weight restrictions are going to be enforced and the fines should cover a road worthy of the traffic.  If not, it will slow there business down enough that they will probably pay to have the road put in themselves, which is our goal!
