1966 Mobil owner
« on: April 06, 2009, 10:05:43 PM »
Hi all just found this site and excitied to see some more Mobil D guy's here. I'm on another forum with none. They're all WM geeks. My Mobil has been in my family since the early 70's , when my father brought it used from Oregon. I grew up running this mill and have been making a living off it for the last few years. We've put the electric start on, the pull start real sucked. The engine been rebuilt and we have 5 foot end stands. I've taken it all the way to Montana to cut big tamrack and fir. I'm located on the hoh river in Olympic Pennisula .

Good to see some fellow MD lovers here.

Welcome, a board, Woodsman.  I always like to see more of us MD mill owners around here.  I have a 128 that Ron had build into sand special hydraulic loading trailer unit.  The first one.  I did own the second they built, but sold it a year and a half ago.  Then he went and sold it to some folks up your way.

I recently was given a 1968 MD mill that was the smaller version, with 31' of track.  It is going to take lots of work to get it all going again.

Welcome aboard.  Your era of MD is what I cut my teeth on as far a sawing goes.  Totally agree with the manual start sucking especially if you use the board and block method and the saw is over your head.  Always had visions on a running saw falling on me.  Kept the heart beating.

Lots of changes since then.

I have an 8" Lucas now because I fell in love with cutting big logs with the MD.

FranK, another............

Now if you had not sold all those others, just think of how many MD's  could be around your lot.

Welcome Woodsman,

I'm south of you on the lower Chehalis, but I spend a fair amount of time on the Hoh.  Lots of good memories camping on the Hoh and Sol Duc with family and friends when I was younger.

I almost bought an MD last year to go with my WM, but I decided to wait till we finished our new house and payed off some of our debt :'(  I'm hoping for next spring :)

You got that right, Buzz.

DaveK. you might want to call Dawn at the office and see if you can go ahead and order for next year and get the sale price they are offering at this time.  If you make a committment now, perhaps they can hold the price for you, until then.

Thanks Frank.  I was just looking at their website last week and no mention of sale pricing.  I'll have to give them a call tomorrow and see what's possible.

For Kirk, it goes up. Others it can stay lower.

I told Dawn that you may well call.  Use the 877 number from their web site.
