OSU VEt Hospital
« on: April 17, 2009, 08:43:00 PM »
Rowdy is on his way home from the cow college, at this moment.  He needed a new tendent on the right rear, below the knee.  He will be layed up for at least two months.  Alice has her worked cut out for her, for sure.  He is up to 200 pounds.  We will have to carry him to the outside for potty, purposes, I was told a bit ago.  They are about to pull into the drive.  More later, I suppose.

Thank you Mike, but he is a St. Bernard and that would be a very challenging adventure, for sure.

We got him in the house, with the two of us using a couple of slings. Alice will be dog setting on the couch for the next couple of weeks to months.

Well, we got Rowdy up and around some, today.  A couple of walks to the front yard.  No stairs or anything like that, for quite some time.

I get to dog set for an hour or so this morning, as Alice has to attend to gathering some grub and Safeway.  Rowdy was on the front stoop taking an early morning nap, when he came pusing the door wider to let me know he did not want to take a leak on the front porch.  So, I had the honor of opening the porch gate for him to exit to the grass.

He is hobbling much better, but not stairways, up or down, yet.

It all changed a week and a half ago  The plate broke due to misdeign or metal defect.  Metal plate broke, tore screws from bone and really messed things up. A week ago yesterday he spent eight hours in surgery, two additional plates and at least three months in a support cast and no walking.
