loger soaked by oak
« on: May 19, 2009, 09:30:54 PM »
was logging a white oak on our place the first limb was at 10' was limbing it after downing tree & the chain saw became a fountion of brown water from the tree i have never seen more than a cup of water come out before
the tree was hollow from 9'6"& up & holding water must have been 10 gals pored on me via the chain saw sling it
tree was 30" + at 3' above ground as we had to trimm a lot to get the mill head to pass
this tree had no bell at ground .
out of ground & straight up 4-5' befor it started to taper

The tough ones are when you cut into them and red stuff comes out of our Oak and it is not water.   :'(

I think the only log I cut into that had red stuff come out was a oak with a family of racoons.  Someof them did not survice the opening face cut :o
