An Interesting Idea
« on: November 19, 2009, 06:49:28 AM »
A friend sent this to me.  I can't verify whether its true, but it is certainly interesting.  Here it is:http://www.prospect.org/cs/articles?article=vermonts_right_not_to_bear_arms

Vermont State Rep. Fred Maslack has read the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, as well as Vermont's own Constitution very carefully, and his strict interpretation of these documents is popping some eyeballs in New England and elsewhere.

Maslack recently proposed a bill to register "non-gun-owners" and require them to pay a $500 fee to the state.

Thus Vermont would become the first state to require a permit for the luxury of going about unarmed and assess a fee of $500 for the privilege of not owning a gun.

Maslack read the "militia" phrase of the Second Amendment as not only affirming the right of the individual citizen to bear arms, but as a clear mandate to do so. He believes that universal gun ownership was advocated by the Framers of the Constitution as an antidote to a "monopoly of force" by the government as well as criminals

Vermont's constitution states explicitly that "the people have a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the State" and those persons who are "conscientiously scrupulous of bearing arms" shall be required to "pay such equivalent."

Clearly, says Maslack, Vermonters have a constitutional obligation to arm themselves, so that they are capable of responding to "any situation that may arise."

Under the bill, adults who choose not to own a firearm would be required to register their name, address, Social Security Number, and driver's license number with the state.

"There is a legitimate government interest in knowing who is not prepared to defend the state should they be asked to do so," Maslack says

Vermont already boasts a high rate of gun ownership along with the least restrictive laws of any state .. it's currently the only state that allows a citizen to carry a concealed firearm without a permit. This combination of plenty of guns and few laws regulating them has resulted in a crime rate that is the third lowest in the nation.

=============================================

Not sure its such a good idea, because said registration could ALSO be used against gun owners (anyone who is NOT registered is suspect, dontcha know).

Looks like MORE ways to control who has what, and is willing to use it, or not  ::) ::)  I don't trust ANY politician.

Y'all oughta know about the Govt., Enviros and Forestry Service, that's shutting down ALL aspects of Gold mining. Can't even dip a pan in a creek.  There is an 1866 Mining Law, Federally mandated, that Obama and others are skirting the issue, because it has been challenged in Superior Court, and stands on it's own merit.  ::) ::)  Getting time to "Lock and Load", EH ???

I dont trust a single one of them either but I do know in Vermont has the most lax gun laws in the US and pretty much everyone up their is armed.

I agree, the less they know the better off we are.  Locked and loaded?

LOCKED, LOADED, STOCKPILED!

The video is awesome!  LONG, but right on track with our system of government and how it operates.  Its disgusting!

I also read an article, where the Federal reserve is a PRIVATE Bank, that controls the US Funds. Figure we all knew that. However, It details WHO is the chain of Authority, to where the money goes.

The FED prints it, at NO cost, other than printing costs, and the GOVT, Gets it ON LOAN, with INTEREST ???

Also, China and other big players, are buying GOLD in record amounts, so, when the dollar collapses, the BIG players will hold all the cards, and everyone else is into Socialism system.

People need to wake up. It's almost too late, now.  ::) ::) ::)

Guess I highjacked this thread pretty bad, huh.  ::) ::) ::)

Its all relative to the problem so Highjack away!

Gold is the way to go right now in my opinion.  We are in the middle of converting what little we have into gold but what ever you do, DO NOT purchase Government Gold!

We must not forget that in 1933 the government basically confiscated all privatly held gold and even though they paid face value to take it from you, right after they did that they devalued the dollar by more than 40% and the depression began!

Many more requirements with government gold such as name, social, address etc required any time it transfers.  I dont want the government to know what I have or who I give it to.   >:(
