Welcome to the forum carver53f. Not much going on here right now. Seems everybody is busy. Things should pickup as winter sets in. The rains in the northwest have started which means more time inside and less time doing wooden things.
In some ways the current Obamanition has been good for the country. I've been concerned about the direction this country has been going for over thirty years and this is the first time that I don't feel like "a voice crying in the wilderness".
More people are aware of the infringment of our freedoms than probably since 1800. More people are aware that the government is supposed to be limited in it's powers. The Constitution provides for enumerated powers and is not supposed to be run according to "the general welfare" This is not a recent problem. The fight to liberalize America and transfer power to an elite group (bankers and professional politicians) has been going on since our inception.
About 30 years ago my state senator (Bob butt pinching Packwood) said in a public meeting to a question from me "that we're so far from the Constitution" if you want to argue about it go talk to someone who cares.
The status quo or those in charge, are fighting a very dear battle to preserve their powers.
IMHO the tea party is the personification of that threat, but the tea party isn't really a party. It is people who are aware of the bad side of our government on their own level. Each has their own thing "that needs changed" There is NO one cohesive set of things they want to change or correct. Most would be appaled if we went back to strict Constitutionalism. But so be it. The fact that more are aware is good but most are not aware of just how far down the road of socialism we have come.
Example: The Constitution allows the Federal government to borrow money but I find no provisions for loaning money! Where does that put the student loan programs? Or loaning money to GM for the bail out?
It's not a Republicrat or Demoncrat thing, it's liberal verses conservative, the rule of law or the rule of whim. No real difference between the two parties. It's not a difference between what they do only the stated reason for doing it.
How many years have we spent voteing for the lesser of two evils?
So don't re-elect anybody. Throw the bums out so we at least get some new bums.
