All the good wood is on the outside. this way you don't have to worry about making fire wood

ok it seems all the large trees in this area are hollow or rotten in center

I cut down a massive Bur Oak at my brothers today. Rotted and hollow the first 8 feet but after that it was rock solid.

Most of the large with oak in this area has heart shake and stain in the middle. If your lucky you get 8 x 8 out of it good for blocking. Otherwise it goes for chips.
