Good Morning all and Happy belated New Year to all.

Just joined this morning and thought that I'd introduce myself. And thanks to Kirk
for the help in getting joined up.

I'm Robert Sherwood and I reside in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where I retired from the
Air Force in April of 93 and currently work as an Locomotive Engineer for Union Pacific
Railroad.

I'm thinking about getting into saw milling as a way to obtain wood blanks for turning
on the lathe. Maybe do some saw milling for a buck or two, time will tell.

Thanks.

Robert

Wow Robert we have more in common than I thought!  Retired AF myself.  Last duty station was Elmendorf, AK.  Paradise to say the least!.

Glad we could help.

Like you, I got into sawmilling for the purpose of taking care of a personal wood need and presto, new business!

Welcome men, and Robert, I just have to ask, do you get to drive one of the Big Boy locomotives by chance? IT would be a treat to get to see one of them from an insiders perspective.

Welcome too.  Another retired USAF here (4 yrs active + 21 Air guard)

Spent a little time in Cheyenne helping set up the GCA radar at the base. Also lived in Dubois for about 3 years.

What kind of wood are you thinking of sawing?

Hi All,

Thanks for all the howdy do's.

Stevem, We have a lot of Aspen and Beetle Kill Pine, both Lodgepole and
Ponderosa. But, I also have a line or two on some Mesquite from Texas.

joasis, I could probably arrange a Roundhouse Tour for you to get close and
up personnel with the two ( 2 ) steam engines here in the yard. Bring your
camera, if you come.

Kirk, are  there any updates to Saw Mill brand list / web sites, since it's at
least a year old.

Great to be here and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone on
the list here. Shoot, I might even plan a vacation to visit with some you
in the next year or so.
