I am looking for a tripple mast hydraulic cylender for my Clark Forklift. I have a temp fix on mine but it leaks the fluid REAL bad. I lifted a load with it today and it will work but dont know how long before it fails again so figured I better start looking for a replacement.
Any ideas on where to find one would be greatly appreciated.
-
I thought you had a junkie friend around there that has all that kind of thing? It is the cyclinder that needs repacking or new seals? Are those a three phase telescoping system?
-
Its a telescoping system but dont have anyone here that has one. The top ring that holds the seal is shot. The threads are destroyed so the outer portion of the cylinder needs replaced along with a new ring.
-
Get me a part number and I will see what I can find.

a guy i know repaire's cly's & can make new ones Moriss Landsburg at

i havent seen him in 5 years but he will rember me as i was the owner of Mike's body & paint shop there & he would make odd parts for me

A machine shop that does cylinder work would be the place...chances of finding a used cylinder would not be good.
-
I appreciate all the input and with any luck I wont have to use it, just yet ::)
It looks like my repair is holding :o I unloaded a load of Hickory today and the but log was 10' long and 36" diameter on the big end and the forklift shaft worked with not a drop leaking, which is better than it ever has been. I just hope it holds up.
I asked around hoping to find a local fix or rebuild for it and was told to try a bottle or two of Lucas hydraulic shaft lube/seal. So far it looks like money well spent as after 5 very large loads the baby is working like a charm with no leaks. Lets see how long it holds up. ;D
-
Ok, the forklift shaft finally gave up the ghost for good. It happen in February and finally yesterday I found a place that can rebuild it. They garaunteed it to be like brand new! Complete new re-chromed shafts, new seals etc.
The down side, $3200.00 :o
I guess since that is the only money I have had to put into it since I got it 4 years ago I am doing OK. It will be nice to know when I pick up a big load I wont have to fear it blowing apart anymore!
Should have the shaft back next week!
-
If that were 1964 dollars it would only be $320.
There, that should make you feel better.
-
Sounds good but I dont feel any better :(
-
The shaft is new but not the housing?
-
The houseing part that was bad is welded up, re-ground, and new threads installed. From what I have been told, this is the outift that Catapillar uses for there shaft rebuilds. They assured me its going to be better than new since todays seals etc. are so much better.
We will see. 8)
-
Well we are back up and running! Picked up a 40" diameter green cotton wood that was 20 feet long with no problem. I think it is in fact better than new! Besides, for $3400 it better pick up anything I want! :o
-
So much for the better than new. >:(
Seal blew and fluid everywhere and it blew on a small cherry log.
They sent out a tech to replace the seal on site. Had I not been here to help he would have never done this on his own. >:( More frustration.
New seal installed, first load OK, then without a load, the last four inches of down travel it peas fluid all over the place. >:(
They are sending a truck to pick up the whole unit today and with any luck, get it fixed right.
-
UUUGGGGGGGGGGG!
Such is life at times......the good part is at least they honored thier commitment to make it right so far ::) ::)
-
sounds like my luck
-
Are they replacing the cherry log as well?
-
Well its been two weeks and they called this morning and said I will have it back middle of next week.
They want to keep it at their shop for two days using it on some heavy stuff to make sure its fixed.
The down side, these idiots have not identified why it failed. They simply repack and hope for the best and that is NOT going to fix the problem. >:(
-
Tell them they are getting a rental bill for its use. ;D
-
Kirk I see a lot of good skidsteers on craigs list for a good price. You just want one with under 2000 hours on it. With mine I can lift a pin oak 28" dia 18' long up on the trailer + run in and out of the woods draging logs all day long. With a root grapple and pallet forks they cant be beet. ;D
-
Good idea, Carl.
-
I may have to start looking for one. They said they are going to use the lift for two days to make sure all is good but I am not holding my breath after the work I saw from them.
Where as the pride in our work gone?
When the guy pulled the old "new" seal out there was nothing wrong with it. I asked, why put another seal in when there is nothing wrong with this one? The problem has to be the surface inside. Did he listen? NOPE. He was sent to put a seal in, PERIOD!
Troubleshooting has gone out the window. Now people just change parts until they fix the problem. :(

MIGHT HAVE TO GIVE AN OLD MACHINEST MAN A CRACK AT IT

Mike, he is my next stop if this doesnt work.
They are bringing it back in the morning and claim its fixed.
-
The trucker got here and assured me it works great. They re-chromed the main shaft and welded a new section to the master cylinder where the main seal is.
Trucker claimed he picked up a 6K forklift with it and it lifted it no problem with no leaks and no straining. They said 15K is the rating for what i have but since its so old they wouldnt suggest over 10k.
I dont think I have any 10K logs around to worry about ;D
Snatched a 30' Spruce off the trailer that was 36" on the butt end and I know its not that heavy but it seemed to work better than it ever has, yet I have said that before. ::)
-
hope it hangs in there
-
Lifted a couple truck loads of logs to day with not a drop leaking anywhere. Fingers are crossed.
-
I got some logs around here that go over 10k. Bring that thing out here and we will give it a try.
-
Might need it to load that big circle mill operation to bring it out here ;D
-
Kirk is changing form band blades to circle blades.
Thanks Alot Mr Mom
-
Kirk is changing form band blades to circle blades.
Now lets not jump the gun to fast here. With Woodmizer offering a 42HP gas for my mill I think I will have to think long and hard about downgrading to a circle mill ;D
-
Cross my palm with enough silver and you have yourself a headrig, with a 52' saw blade. ;D

Dupont in an airasol silver comes cheap ;D
