Thanks for the invite Jay! and thanks to the rest of you for having me.Those of you who do know"of"me I won't say anything here that you haven't read somewhere else(don't want to bore you too badly
).I operate a 30" Hudson Bandmill :oand I am by no means a High Production Sawyer.I like "funky" wood and spend alot of time sawing such.I do saw what I have when I have it but for the most part I like "funky stuff".I have a website "under construction
http://www.logstolumber.org
and invite any/all of you to stop by.I am relatively new to Sawing, bought my mill in Jan.'08 so I can relieve the local Sawmill of my "funky" antics and spend more time doing what I like(Sawing it MY WAY).In the end I'll actually save not just the cost of the wood but transporting from the mill to the drier and back to my place.I live in a rural area of the Appalachian Mountain range so a trip like that kills the better part of a day.I have a small kiln as well that supports my habit and a few others so basically I'm all set up to pick your minds for information so I can become abit more finessed at what I've been up to.I look forward to reading and reading and reading and I'll chime in at any chance I get to throw my $.02 in. Welcome to the site Mark. Make sure you add your web page to your profile. That way it shows up as a www link under your user name.
Here you go Frank, another happy Hudson owner!

We are growing in registered members.
I see that we have at this moment 11 guests reading around the foum.
Why don't you sign in and join in the discussions and sharing of sawdust stories? It would be great to have your ideas and story lines on the forum.

ALLLRIGGHHTTT - Another funky wood addict!!!!
Sounds like you're doing the same thing I am bro. I have more fun with the ugly hardwood logs. I can't even bear cutting fir and spruce into framing lumber anymore.

Sounds like we need a web domain name to fit the addiction.

Started up the bucket truck this afternoon and figured out all the knobs and handles. Ben even had the thing way up in the air.

Welcome to our little world. Not big but really friendly.
We all kind of talk tress here. What in particular did you have in mind?
Why does western black walnut (claro) have so much more sap (white) wood than eastern black walnut?
How many nails can you put in a yard tree before it says ouch?
I see lots of yard trees taken down and was wondering about the economics for the tree service. What economic considerations do you, as a tree service, include when disposing of trees you take down for people? Do you give the wood away? Pay disposal costs? Hope to leave the wood to the home owner and let them worry about it. Sell the wood as part of your profit margin? Just get rid of it?
I'd be interested in your perspective.

burping and laughing are KILLER!
Got a rib support belt today that helps a lot. Dr. said 2 weeks before the pain slacks off, 6 weeks to heal. That sucks! I have over 100 customer logs to get done
