Xcut Eastern Red Cedar
« on: December 09, 2012, 03:26:16 PM »
I think sometime you just have to have fun.  That's what I'm doing today!!!!
Grabbed the blank from the 'stack-o-blanks', popped a few holes through it, and spun it up on the lathe.  Think it came out pretty nice....not the best work I've ever done, but someone will end up with it someday and they will enjoy it(I hope?)  Besides, figured some of ya'll might like to see where some of the wood I cut goes to when it is a final product?  Or maybe not, but the pictures are pretty.

Eastern Red Cedar crosscut on a Jr. Gent I gold kit(from Timberbits.com in Austraila).
Anyway.....

And then up close!

This is about as close as I can get to a blank without some serious lighting and the use of extension tubes.  I'll let the wood speak for itself......
Oh yeah, this is 3 coats medium and 5 coats thick CA(BLO method)....if you were curious.

Thanks for looking!

Looks good. Went to a craft show yesterday with the wife and the pens were a hot seller.
