arches
« on: April 25, 2008, 09:24:39 AM »
New, in stock two arches.  One is a Junior and the other is an ATV.  So, anyone in my area wanting one of these arches, let me know soon.  They may go faster than I think.

You can go to www.futureforestry.com to get a goot at the two different arches.

"goot" = a combo of good and look.  (So, there, Kirk)  ;D

Not really, MIke.  I have a half dozen empty peavy and canthook heads and have settled on using only the Logrite canthooks.  If you would like, I can have one sent direct from the factory, for you.  You can call the office on Monday and have Kevin send you one.  You can use plastic if you like or send him a check for the hook and shipping.  Make sure I get the credit, if you do, please. ;D

New wooden handles around here run about $50.  If you break or bend one of the Logrite handles, you send it back and you get a new one.  NOw, you can't run it over with a Cat, or anything like that, of course.

I too quit buying new wooden handles. When they break its always under a load that on a few occasions has ended up causing pain.  With the cost of a new wood handle I am over halfway there to the cost of a Log Rite that lasts forever.

Peavy has the point and is convenient to stick into the ground so its standing up and ready to grab ;D

The point also makes it nice when trying to pry the log over while on the ground.

The cant hook has the square end and is typically used on the saw mill when you have the log squared up (cant).  The square end does little damage to the face of the cant.  (actually its more like a small retangle)

I have Cant hooks but many times wish I had the Peavy because the bending over to pick up the cant hook gets old.

Frank, shoot me a price on the Log Arches.  THis week has been a bear with skidding some monster logs and I am on the way out today to look at another 60 free monsters.  I just have to get them out of the field.

Thanks

What size are you interested in acquiring?  I would suggest getting one large enough to pull over the road.  I will get the prices to you later this afternoon. ;D

Frank,

Can you get parts for the FF winches?  Had a little accident and broke the tab off the directional latch as well as lost the little spring and damaged the gear change latch on my winch. :-[

I will give Kevin a call tomorrow and see if we can get the parts.  Are you ok?  That is the most important thing, you know.

I'll check next time I'm up in the woods. The accident was catching the winch with a tractor tire.  The winch and arch are fine, the little appendages didn't fair so well.

I know that I will take at least two each of the speed adjustment latch and corresponding tension spring since I have already modified this part twice before. This is due to our mis-use, not due to any design or quality flaws

adk, I know exactly to what you speak.  I fix things until I can get the actual parts, or until what I used breaks or wears itself out. ;D

The winch parts, hookaroon, and International 1/4 rule log scale arrived today from Logrite.  I hope they credit you properly.
