What tool do you keep saying you're going to buy but still haven't after all these years...one you know you'd use alot?

I keep saying I'm gonna buy Fein's Multimaster.
And this isn't even the most current model (but if you wanna buy it for me...

I went to Indianapolis today and picked up a few ~~needed~~ ..... wanted items at The Woodworking Show.

We got the 500,000 rpm model. Have seen this tool for years and wanted it and finally bought it for my wife today

I was surprised how few big tool manufacturers were present. Delta and General were it. No Jet, Gizzly, or any of the lathe companies. A wood hobby shop dealer had the shop fox at his booth otherwise I would have never seen it.

I think the internet is really changing the way things are done, at least at the general public level. When I was involved in machining, the SMT shows were big events...now I understand they have dinners with product presentations instead of the mega shows with machine tools set up and running, as in days of old.

I agree. We do 90% of our business from the Internet. It has saved us thousands in show expense. I go to one show a year now. Fire Department Instructor Conference (FDIC) in Indy. Its the largest fire expo in North America and it pays to go to that one but thats where it stops. Each state has a fire conference of some kind you could go to but anymore those have become nothing more than golf outings.

Well, I can tell you the one we just had here in Oregon, was not a golf outing.

Because I do not play golf. You are correct, that not many vendors showed, as expected.

They have just made it to costly to attend. The show in Indy wanted me to reserve my hotel through the show planners and they offered the "show" rate for Holiday Inn Express as $139.00. I booked it myself and got a rack rate of $65.00.

Like as in when you cheap out and you're sorry later.
For me its my Crapsman shop vac. I'm so pizzed that I scored that instead of the Fein tool actuated vac.

I reasearched it to death too back then (when I had the money) and it was between the Fein and the Festool

The Festool vac is real good ..maybe the best but a bit too pricey for me.

Thanks Andy....thanks alot! I really needed to see a new tool like that one, that I have to hunt for now and buy. Dewalt has a unique table saw available only in Europe, and I haven't even seen a picture of it lately.

Thats totally bizarre Mike...I was reading through that just last night. I think I saw it in the Woodweb Forum? Wonder how much different it is than the one below I'm posting with free plans.

I also checked this out...what does anyone think of this plan...built on a larger scale naturally?

WELL i have those plans & should have built one already . but been wanting the birky design ;Dthat has multiple kiln rooms & you move the doors to the room that is to be in operation at the time. the other rooms allows for air drying till your ready to start the heating cycle with out haveing to move the lumber

should of been in production but health problems has sapped my recources & energy

. but im on the go now

, just dont lose the dream & well make it one day

BTW, I placed that link on contractortalk, and the guys pointed out that it is a Festool TS55 dressed up as a Dwalt....about $400 and up, depending on options.

My neighbor, the one with the big ole' circle mill, has the planer that came out of the high school my dad went to. It is at least a 24" cut, and I think it is 30". I hope to aquire it when he is finished with it. He's 85 y.o. but still going strong.
