Thought I would say hi
« on: July 24, 2008, 09:27:05 AM »
Hello folks, I'm Escanabajosh's uncle, I make primitive all wood bows, arrows knifes etc

Josh told me about this site, don't know anything about wood mills but ya never know maybe I can
trade/buy raw materials eh.

I see Josh posted a pic of my chainsaw bar machete I made, I didn't make it pretty as its meant to be used :)

Welcome a board, Dana.  Yep I saw the knife.  I was wondering if you took on commissions, if they sent you as bar or three?   I woud put the handle on them, from some curly Maple, Oak or Walnut.

Thanks for the welcome Frank.
As for making you a machete, I prefer to trade not sell. The longer the bar the better, if its a sproket tip that has to be cut off which reduces the length, the one Josh posted is 15" and weighs 16oz, The handle covers the adjuster slots.

I would be interested in some of the Maple burl you posted, hickory or hard maple slats for bow backings, and if or another bar if ya have an extra.
Lets talk I'm sure we can work something out :)

Heres a couple of knives I made from bandsaw steel I get from a friend at a sawmill in Kentucky,
both are hafted with Mescalbean root from a friend in Texas. The little one is a neck knife.

Welcome aboard DanaM.
Those are really cool looking knives.
Is a neck knife something you hang from your neck or something you stick in a neck, or something else?

I guess you could stick it in a neck :o But I have a small sheath on a thong and wear it around my neck while hunting.
Comes in handy and if ya fall out of a treestand and the harness needs to be cut its right where you need it. And they look cool 8)
