it's charging 16&1/2 volts this is to much took alt off went in to autozone they asid is bad so $105. later got new alt now charges 15 &3/4 volts to much. took of went to ele shop they said the alt is fine holding at 14.3 ok. he said the p wire or thes wire might have an open in it causing it to charge to much but that it had to make connection to energize the reg confusing

Confusing is right.  The voltage regulator is built in to the alternator so it should regulate the voltage to the battery.  Most regulate in the 12-14 range.

How are you reading the volts its charging?  If your using the dash scale I would not count on that being very accurate.   I had a voltmeter that showed high and come to find out it was common to have that problem when the battery was low in it.  Put in a new 9 volt battery and it worked like a champ.

I hate chasing electrical problems. >:(

Had an Ambulance call at 4am this morning and enroute to the hospital my headlights went yellow, siren all but quite and the radio wouldnt work.  Turned off the lights and siren and went silent and my volts were reading 8 on our dash digital monitor.  Alternator was shot.  made it to the local battery specialists shop and they are working on it today.  New alternator and a battery tender to trickle charge the battery.

im useing the volt metter in my christy battery load tester
well i went to see tony at the tranz shop, he has the alldata link he looked up my car & said that the p wire isnt even soposed to be there . that on newer models the p wire sends 8 volts to the alt 's regulatior when the battery is fully charged so it can free wheel to save gas. my p wire has 13 volts allthe time so i disconected it & now its chargeing 14-14.3 as it should be . wife is gone to town now so we will see how it does.
its funny the parts house told me that i couldnt have that alt in a 94 as that style only came in newer cars
