Nation's Largest Cottonwood
« on: January 20, 2009, 12:38:52 AM »
Wife and I went Sunday over to a park in the Valley.............although the air was brisk by low temperature the sun was out and sky was blue.

Took digital camera but forgot to charge batteries.........managed to get only one picture of the nations largest Cotttonwood.

Last year this tree lost several of it's larger lateral's.  In this pic one of the smaller ones is laying against the trunk (diameter of branch is 18 inches).

Water behind tree is a flood canal that obviously has divided the park in two..........closing the park.

Now my first attempt at uploading pic...............

Condition this year is worst than last  :P

From external observation.........I think tree will fall apart soon.

Not certain any viable wood left in it!

Got a market for mush, Frank?

Maybe we could sell it to those southern grit eaters. Tell em its low in calories
