Oregon Logging Conference 2009
« on: February 22, 2009, 10:36:01 AM »
New marketing by Tanglewood;

At least Frank, did not have a nice display like this two years ago.  The weather co-operated nicely for this year's conference.

Notice the additional marketing phrase that Frank & MD were able to get simply by remembering...................................................location, location,location :laugh:

 This is the first year that I got my wife to go with me. In front of Frank's Ford is the little Oscar mills, which is the direction I approached the MD site. Not seen in this pic to the right of Frank's truck is his 'rain tent';D

 :o

Also 'new' to me were these little logs that Frank was milling. In years past he has had some nice size redwood.

BTW, this mill is not in production yet.  I'll let Frank respond with details of questions you may have.

Every year there is a new or oddball piece of equipment that catches my attention. This year it was the Davco, although they had been at the show ten years earlier. This was the first time they had this piece.

The show was within two hours of closing; Lucas was set up to the right of this mill and did not have time to mill the logs they had. So these guys milled them for them that is why the cants and material on this side of the green chain.

Stephen, Thanks for the pics!

If you set up your own gallery you can put all those pics into one post.  Once the gallery is set up you can upload 5 pics at a time.

Too bad you weren't their Friday Steve.  I'd have shared a donut with you.

That Davco mill, called a twin cut, saws going both directions, the head rotates.  The guy there said the mill was capable of 25m per 8 hour day.  Impressive performance, impressive price at $250,000, but could be cutting in less than an hour from site showup.

My "friends".  It was a great show this year and the weather was great.  The threat of rain did not occur until the very end and closing.

By the way, one of the folks that saw the event is coming here tomorrow, for another show and tell.  There is also a couple of folks from Vancouver, Washington to see the digs and the mill operate.  Both sets of visitors are likely to buy a MD mill in the next little while.
