Hmmmm...yeh I see. When I opened it from where I go it it opened instantly. Now here it took me about ten seconds but I'm on cable.
I  got it from "Sawmill and Woodlot". It REALLY is good. It has EVERYTHING we all love to look at. It's a buyers guide all in living color.
I got it out of here.

Sizing pictures we have found to be the easiest with XAT.com jpeg optimizer.
It’s a free download at http://www.XAT.com

Step by step sizing instructions.
1. Open XAT jpeg optimizer
2. Open the picture you want to resize
3. On the left hand side is a tool bar.  Select the Crop image tool and make a box around the image you want to crop, assuming you want it cropped at all. If not, skip this step.
4. Then select the transform image button which is just below the crop image icon.  A small screen will pop up and you can resize your picture with that.  450 as your width on horizontal pics works best and 450 on height for vertical pictures.  When you place 450 in the Width box and hit enter it will automatically adjust the height of the photo.
5. Save you photo. When you do this another small box will appear titled Compress Immage.
6. On the JPEG Quality, set the photo at 80. When you do that you will see the file size numbers above the picture change.  If 80 does not get you into the file size limits you can remove the check mark from the “Extra Color” box and change the Extra Compression to 10.  That should do it for 90% of the pictures you deal with.
7. Now that they are resized and ready for upload its time to go to the Gallery.

Gallery instructions
1. Select the Gallery tab on the menu
2. Then select “My Gallery”
3. Then on the left under Gallery Name select what ever you named your categorie, or gallery.
4. After step 3 you should see your gallery photos.  At the bottom of the page is a Bulk Upload option for you pictures.
5. Select Bulk Upload
6. You can then select Browse and select the picture file you want to upload.  I believe, but may be wrong, the Title and Description is optional under the bulk upload option.

Getting the Photo into a post.
1. From the Gallery pic you want in a post select the picture. It should pop up as a larger image instead of a thumbnail size.
2. Right mouse click and select properties
3. Highlight the address for the pic, right mouse click and select copy.
4. While in you post, right mouse click and select paste.
5. Highlight the address you just pasted, and select the Insert Image just above the smilies.  Its the icon next to the WWWHyperlink icon.  Once you do that it adds the appropriate code to the address that causes the image to appear in your post.

I know that all this may seem rather overwhelming as I know it was for me the first time several years ago but rest assured, do it a few times and it will become second nature. If you have any problems let me know and I will do my best to help out.

I added an upgrade to the gallery today that has numerous fetures, of which most I have not used yet as I am pretty whipped from installing my truss's.

One feature that I thought was pretty cool was the slide show feature.  You can now look through the gallery in slide show format and you select the time frame between slides.  Pretty neat feature.

If you tried to load some pics yesterday you may have gotten some type of message that the pics have to be aproved.  That has been corrected.  You pics will auto aprove.

I did not realize the upgrade had this new option and I had to select the auto aprove box for everyone.  Sorry for the delay.

I found it by seen three new photos in the "Awaiting Aprovel" box.  I aproved them but cant seem to find them now.  If you posted them let me know if you had any problem.

Thanks

There are tabs just above the banner adds. One is titled Gallery.  Click that and it takes you to the gallery page.  From there you can view or set up your own gallery.

The Gallery button does not show on my screen. I found it though via google. Quite strange that I can't find it on in the forum.

Its really hard to reduce the pictures down to 30Kb. Is it some way possible to increase the limit to 100Kb?
If the storage space is little on the server it could be an idea to limit amount of pictures every user can upload.

These are just some ideas that I suggest.

You should see the following options in blue going left to right just above the banner adds on the home page.

Im showing that the current max file size is 40K

If you use the http://www.xat.com/ progam to resize it should not be a problem.  It takes a few to get used to using it but I regulary convert 2mb pictures down to 40 k with no problem.  Follow step by step a couple times and before you know it becomes second nature to resize and upload bulk photos.

You are right about that Kirk. I just found out that IE is showing it all but my default web browser Firefox doesn't show the Gallery. Kinda strange. Any way, now I know. Thanks.

Did you read my last post about picture size?

Sorry about that.  I went back and added the info on the pic size after posting so it might not have been visible as you typed out your recent post.

I use xat all the time, and you can get a lot of size down by simply cropping out everything that isn't necessary. This is a picture from last summer, 30 foot span timber frame truss used in a big custom home we built. Some of the new members probably don't know I am a builder...and never have time for woodworking.

I checked out XAT and it seems that the software is not easy to use. I understood that its managed by DOS command interface.

I'm now using a software called "Advanced JPEG Compressor". It has a great user interface. But it cost me 35 $.

I have compressed some pictures and it seems good enough:
