Is anyone else Swamped?
« on: September 26, 2009, 09:17:29 AM »
I know I have been lacking on getting on the forum and keeping things updated but lately I have been absolutly buried with business, both on the fire side and milling.

Just curious how everyone else is doing.  I cant believe the upswing in milling jobs I have right now.  I am backed up through November and dont see it getting any slower.

Carl, I am going to raise all of my prices, the first of the year, by at least $.10 a board foot for sawing.
I too, am swamped, until at least after Christmas, for sawing.  Drying, I am out at least eight months, maybe longer.  I might get to have some breather when the new unit arrives for drying, but not sure when that will happen right now.  Even if it got here tomorrow, I would have a least a month or better before I could get the blasted thing in operation.
I have a log load of Oak arriving here in about 45 minutes that is for one of the local high schools shop and FFA programs.  I told them it will be some time before it is completed.  I know there is more coming, but exactly when, I am not sure, from other folks.  What a booming economy, for some of us folks.

I promise to get a boat load of pics up as soon as.............................things slow down.  I made two runs with the trailer today and snagged 34' monster WRC poles that have never been in the ground.  There were 100' poles and we cut them to fit on the 30' trailer with a little hanging over.

Also managed to snag about 40 cement pedastals that they use with RR rails sitting on them for keeping the poles off the ground.  I got the rails, pedastals and about 300 feet of 3" plastic gas line, and 1 6"x16 foot steel gas pipe.

All free for the taking!

Ended up with about six 34' Southern Yellow Pine poles that have also never been in the ground and they are 12" on the small end!

I am totally swamped with the kiln.  I just sold virtually all of the burl stumps, logs and chuncks I have in stock.  What a day. ;D
