The 8mm Remington magnum put the smack down on a 6x6 bull Monday morning at 242 yards. The shot was a piece of cake and I lucked out to have the land owners two kids actaully film the hunt on HD Video!
As soon as I get the DVD from them I will get it posted!
Should have some pics up this weekend!
They both freaked when they saw what an 8mm RM does to an Elk, especially after the day before they took a 5x5 bull with their 270. Their words were, "what the hell are you shooting" ! It was truly a great feeling to have worked up the load and have it perform so well and see a bull elk hit the dirt and pile down the hill the way it did.
180 Grain Barnes TSX - loaded to an average of 3233 fps and provided just over 3000 ft/lbs of energy at 242 yards.
The bullet drove through both front shoulder blades and was lodged on in the hide on the far side. (the blood dripping from the lung shot was a second shot I took as he tumbled down the hill - after thought was I didnt need it but habit on big critters took over and had the first shot not done its job the second would have!)
