The big carrage mill I have for sale runs a 52 inch blade and the engine is 200hp.  It will move the carrage up and back for a 24' log in about a minute or so.

I may be wrong but I think Buzz's motor was in the 300hp range and runs a 56" blade.  Not sure on the carriage size.

As soon as I get my old hard drive installed, I will have my picture files (maybe I need a pity party to raise money since it crashed and all) and I will post pictures of my Meadows...which is a real sawmill with a big circular blade, the way God intended sawmills to be ;D

Hi MikeP and all....
My mill uses abouta gallon of fuel per hour more or less , the old budda engine on it is very fuel efficient, it was built around 1938 and has enough power to zip through a 24 inch log  something like a foot a second....so the widder cut doesnt hurt to much unless it is really nice walnut or cherry etc. the performance is worth a littlle dust ;)

And its bigger... :)

Now Buzz, I was told numbers like 1 foot a second are impossible...do you have a billion board feet of experience to back that up with? :D :D :D I need a better power unit for mine.....be nice to find a big Buda on propane.

Yes Buzz....real sawmills have big blades and make a lot of noise....not like those wimpy bandmills.

Sounds great, Buzz.  Now when he gets out here in June, I hope he has the same camera.  If he forgets, Alice has one and perhapes we can learn from the master, on how to upload to the forum.

New table top for a cup holder during cook outs!

Acutally, below that cut was nothing but rot and with very little wood to use for directional felling we cut above it where it was harder.  We had to make sure it didnt come back on the house and it had to fall just to the left of the pool deck at the bottom of the hill, which it did!
