logging old hickory

so i cut this hickory ill have to get a pic
it had 127 year wrings counted till i hit the rotten center
seems every large tree i cut down here is rotten in the center

When oak trees here get over 50 years the black sugar ants eat the sweet center of the tree out.When the trees are around 75 years they are torn up inside from the ants here.Some trees are dont get ants but most here in the oak family get attacked.I like the ones 50 or less years on the hardwoods here.Thats why i didnt get a swing blade here.

I milled some hickory the other week. Sure was hard :o Perty too ;D

Had to use 9s I was out of 7s  Man I need to invest in a sharpner ;D

What is the difference in color between the sap wood and the heart wood on that hickory?  Isn't some of the hickory heartwood reddish?
